The Chinese culture recently celebrated their Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year. Each year is signified by an animal which is rotated every 12 years. The year 2015 marks the Year of the Ram (or Goat or Sheep depending on which region you live) and folklore states that people born in the year of the goat are generally associated with kindness, sensitivity, politeness and creativity. Each year, the animal rotates to a new zodiac sign eventually repeating itself after twelve.
This is not much different than the cyclical state of the US economy. After all, they say history repeats itself, correct?
A recent article on NBCNews.com asked the question, is 2015 going to be the Year of the Retirement Party? Unfortunately, the Great Recession caused many Baby Boomers to put off retirement due to their scathingly sliced financial portfolios. Retirement which has been right around the corner for many looked bleak when reviewing their retirement savings.
But as the article states, while “53 percent of workers over the age of 60 say they’re putting retirement on hold…it’s actually a post-recession low, down from 66 percent who were putting off retirement in 2010.”
